It is essential to work out every major muscle in gym session for getting desired results.

Therefore, it is important to be disciplined, dedicated, and realistic while working out. One must never over-do an exercise; it is harmful for the body. There are a number of norms that should be kept in mind once an individual joins a gym. Take a look!

You may be working out right, but eating wrong.

Don’t eat these after exercising and after doing a bad-ass workout –

  • Bread
  • Cheese
  • Eggs
  • Packaged cereal flakes
  • Prepackaged fruit drinks
  • Processed meats
  • Soft drinks

Load up on energy with these quick low calorie boosters –

  • Coconut water
  • Whey protein shakes
  • Low fat curd with honey/ anjeer/ dates
  • Soy milk-fruit smoothie: banana/ mango/ strawberries/ chikoo/ apple
  • Boiled sprouted beans + grated fresh coconut salad

If you are planning to work out and  join a gym, make sure you have these gym essentials, (more of a necessity than personal choice) –

  • Towel – For managing your sweat during and after workout
  • Pair of gym gloves & Wrist Band – These will help during weight-bearing and strengthening exercises
  • Good quality Sports Shoes
  • Energy booster bars/ drinks (Consult your trainer before eating any “health” food and do not fall into fads)
  • Dry-fit workout clothes – For better fit and sweat absorption
  • Deodorant (for obvious reason 😉 )
  • A sporty gym handbag (To keep all your gym stuff altogether)

Also, follow these gym etiquette and help others to follow the same –

  • Adhere to the time of your workout schedule
  • Be good to the equipment
  • Keep equipment in place and leave them in the condition they previously were
  • Keep your gym bag in the locker
  • Wipe equipment before and after use (Let’s be hygienic, people!)
  • Don’t be shy to ask for help, when needed
  • Do not be too chatty with others. This will distract as well as others during exercise.
  • Don’t go on a rampant selfie – taking spree
  • Do not hit on mirrors for grooming and “checking out” yourself, every now & then
  • Do not offer advice to gym-mates (Leave this to gym trainers and staff)
  • Do not stare anybody (Let’s not be creepy! :P)
